I’ve put together a fully bolt-on 35 spline full-floater conversion for the Nissan H233/H260 rear diff, built around 99-04 Dana 60 unit bearings.
Key features:
• True full-floating design using 35 spline, 1.5” chromoly axles
• Dual caliper mounts using factory GU calipers/rotors - one main caliper plus a second for a cutting brake, inline secondary, or don’t put anything there. Potentially going to work on mounting an electric caliper for handbrake purposes on cars like landcruisers with patrol diffs so there is a handbrake solution.
• Fully bolt-on - you can revert to the factory axle setup any time
• Three adapter widths to suit basically every front/rear track-width combo
• Unit bearings supplied with grease fittings so you can grease them if you want
I’ve lived in these cars for 15 years and raced them for 10. Rear axles have always been a weak point, and this kit is aimed at fixing that properly. This isn’t about trying to cash in, it’s about bringing something to the community that I’ll personally be running in multiple cars and that solves a real problem for anyone who’s broken a Patrol axle in the rear diff centre.
You’ll need 35 spline side gears in your ARB locker, and there’s one other step you may need to do.
I’ll also be offering diff rebuilds - locker side gear upgrades, locker mods, new gear sets, full overhauls. Down the line I’m working toward a full replacement rear housing with a new centre and updated suspension mounts/bracing.
Kits will come with aftermarket 6-stud converted unit bearings and 4340 chromoly axles. You can spec up to Timken bearings and 300M axles.
I’m still finalising numbers while we run real world testing across a few cars. These are looking to be around low to mid $4000s for a base kit.
I’m also working on a diff centre load bolt mod, commonly referred to as “diff pegging” which will also be available either in the kit or as a seperate mod for both front and rear h233 diff centres. See photos
